A wildfire near Leadville, known as the Willow Fire, has rapidly increased in size, growing from 2,969 acres to 3,957 acres in just 24 hours. As a result, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued new mandatory evacuations for areas including Lake Fork and Stargazer Circle. The Colorado Mountain College evacuation shelter is no longer in use; new shelters are set up at the Public Safety Complex in Buena Vista and Battle Mountain High School in Edwards. The fire, ignited on June 28, is only 1% contained.
