On September 17, the Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance will host a meeting at the Brady Fire Co. Social Hall to discuss efforts for restoring the Shamokin Creek Watershed. The project aims to integrate previous and current data to create a comprehensive assessment and restoration plan. Key activities include collecting a year’s worth of sampling data from nine major acid mine drainage discharges in the Upper Shamokin Creek watershed. Tetra Tech, Inc. will present findings and discuss potential treatment options. The project is supported by the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Charles B. Degenstein Foundation, with field assistance from the Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation and the Northumberland County Conservation District.
