Commonwealth Financing Authority Allocates Over $14 Million for Local Watershed and Infrastructure Projects

Commonwealth Financing Authority Allocates Over $14 Million For Local Watershed

DCED Secretary Rick Siger emphasized that investments in environmental and infrastructure projects in Pennsylvania are enhancing community safety and well-being. The Act 13 Program funding includes:

  • Flood Mitigation Program: Five projects funded at $813,520, notably $265,380 for the Mansfield Flood Mitigation Project in Tioga County.
  • Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program: 119 projects approved with $12,122,417 total funding, including $100,000 for Srouji Park improvements in Hampden Township.
  • Sewage Facilities Program: Two projects with $77,529 total funding, such as $52,529 for Lowell Township’s Act 537 plan update.
  • Watershed Restoration Protection Program: Nine projects funded at $1,095,895, including $100,000 for improvements to Woodland Park pond in O’Hara Township.

The funding is sourced from Act 13 drilling impact fees from shale gas well drillers. The next funding round opens on February 1. For details, visit the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Act 13 Programs webpage.
