Frisco firefighters will conduct controlled burns at Frisco Commons Park and Grand Park starting in January to restore native prairie ecosystems and prevent wildfires. The burns, managed by the Fire Department’s Wildland Firefighting Team, aim to rejuvenate vegetation, promote biodiversity, and safeguard communities. Each four-hour burn will be monitored to minimize smoke. The fire at Frisco Commons Park will target a wildflower meadow, while February’s burn at Grand Park will enhance the future nature center site. Safety measures will be in place, and updates will be shared via social media. These efforts are part of broader conservation initiatives to maintain water quality and wildlife habitat.
