Susquehanna University’s School of Natural and Social Sciences has introduced a watershed studies minor aimed at promoting sustainable land and water management. Dean Kathy Straub emphasizes the program’s focus on watershed restoration, which aligns with Pennsylvania’s environmental needs and the university’s location by the Susquehanna River. The minor combines courses from various disciplines, including earth sciences, ecology, and policy, granting students hands-on experience at the university’s Center for Environmental Education and Research. Assistant Professor Siobhan Fathel will lead the program, which benefits from partnerships with organizations like the Chesapeake Conservancy. These collaborations enhance students’ research and internship opportunities in watershed conservation.
