Wildfires in Oklahoma have led to evacuations, prompting the Red Cross to expand shelter operations for displaced residents. Over 140 individuals utilized shelters overnight, with multiple evacuation centers open, including new sites at the Case Community Center in Sand Springs, First Methodist Church in Mannford, and Payne County Fairgrounds in Stillwater. These shelters provide meals, emotional support, and recovery assistance at no cost, requiring only a name and address for check-in. Matt Trotter from the Red Cross emphasizes the need for disaster preparedness, recommending that residents have a kit with three days of supplies and a clear evacuation plan. The Red Cross also offers free smoke detector installations and will continue to support affected areas. For shelter updates, residents are encouraged to visit the Red Cross website.
