Wildfires are significantly impacting the Carolinas and Georgia, prompting “increased fire danger” warnings as winds rise and humidity drops. Residents report health issues due to smoke, and the North Carolina Forest Service faces staffing shortages with over 100 vacancies. Additionally, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein warned residents to prepare for severe weather, including storms and potential tornadoes, as further challenges loom.
