The intern from SUNY Ulster reflected on their experience working in NYC DEP’s Kingston office, focusing on environmental studies. The internship provided exposure to new subjects and career paths, particularly in earth and atmospheric science and water analysis. The intern emphasized the benefits of exploring niche areas within environmental science, which are likely to aid future opportunities in water science. The four interns contributed to invasive plant management, forest monitoring, species surveys, and research involving predator populations and dragonfly biodiversity across multiple counties in the watershed.
