Emergency kits are being distributed to vulnerable residents in Eastern Oregon as wildfires rage. The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) is providing these kits, along with portable battery stations, to individuals receiving in-home Medicaid care. Utilizing federal pandemic relief funds, DHS has distributed 930 kits and 176 battery stations, with plans for at least 20,000 kits statewide. The emergency supplies include food, water, and medical device power options, aimed at those dependent on electricity for medical needs.

DHS emphasizes the importance of this initiative due to increasing emergencies, including wildfires and extreme weather. There are about 18,000 more kits available, but no additional funding for future purchases. Eligible individuals should contact their case managers to obtain these resources.
