On July 12, 2025, a wildfire near East Deer Lake Road has burned over 27 acres, prompting level one evacuations. Firefighters from Stevens County Fire District One have contained the fire to 27 acres but warned that active flames remain, especially on ridges. Initial evacuations were lifted as containment improved to 70 percent, though officials cautioned residents to stay clear of the area due to ongoing firefighting efforts and helicopter activity. Concerns persist regarding power lines near the fire, and evacuation orders were previously issued to clear the area for air support. No structural damage has been reported.
