The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders invites elementary and high school teachers, along with community groups, to register for a free, 30-45 minute in-house science presentation focusing on watershed and environmental concepts. Participants will learn about the impacts of human behavior on land and waterways. The program includes interactive, hands-on demonstrations, such as a 3D topographic model.

Freeholder Chairman Linda Carter noted that since 1999, these presentations have been well-received and offer practical solutions to reduce non-point source pollution, like minimizing pesticide use and managing pet waste. The presentations are facilitated by the Board of Freeholders, the Department of Parks and Community Renewal, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador Program, which also provides stream assessment training. To schedule a presentation or training, contact Watershed Ambassador Jon Dugan at 908-789-3209.
