Friends of the Mad River received a $39,580 grant from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation to support watershed project development over two years, building on a previous $25,000 grant. This funding aids in planning and executing conservation projects that improve river health and community flood resilience amidst climate change pressures.

The organization has assessed past studies to identify potential projects, collaborating with towns and private landowners to advance selected initiatives. Their focus includes increased partnerships with agricultural operations and ski resorts. Community involvement is key, offering consultations for landowners on stormwater management and restoration. Opportunities for public participation include water quality monitoring and invasive plant removal.
