The Lower Salt River Riparian Restoration Project aims to improve the health of the riparian and aquatic ecosystems for clean water, enhanced wildlife habitat, and recreational experiences. Initiated after the Cactus Fire in 2017, which cleared invasive species, the project offers a unique chance to promote native vegetation. On December 7, 2019, multiple organizations, including the National Forest Foundation and local communities, participated in a volunteer event at the Phon D. Sutton Recreation Site, fostering a connection between volunteers and their watershed.
