In mid-March, Nebraska faced widespread wildfires, prompting an emergency declaration to support affected drivers and motor carriers. This declaration, which provides hours-of-service relief, has been extended twice, remaining effective through May 14. Wildfires have devastated nearly 1 million acres, impacting public safety and food supplies.

Direct assistance for drivers is allowed for immediate emergencies, excluding long-term rehabilitation and routine commercial deliveries. Following the declaration, trucking convoys transported hay and supplies from various locations, organized by social media outreach from farmers and ranchers. Notably, a convoy from South Dakota delivered 300 bales of hay, with local farmers in Iowa also contributing. The efforts highlight strong community support for those affected.
