The Upper Bijou Park Creek Watershed Restoration Project in South Lake Tahoe aims to improve water quality and reduce flooding in an 850-acre watershed discharging to Lake Tahoe. The project focuses on historic flooding, development impacts, and environmental restoration, including solutions for urban runoff and natural treatment systems to lower sediment and nutrient levels.

A key initiative is the Rockwood to Blackwood Drainage Improvements Project, set to begin construction on May 12, 2025, targeting flooding on several local roads, including Woodbine, Rockwood, and Blackwood Roads. Construction will involve stormwater infrastructure and utility relocations, expected to finish by October 2025. The City encourages the community to stay updated on project developments and any traffic impacts. For further details, visit the city’s Public Works webpage.
