The Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley (WCLV) has received an Environmental Partnership Award for its conservation efforts in the Poconos. The award, part of a 35-year tradition, celebrates outstanding environmental initiatives in northeastern Pennsylvania. WCLV President Rebecca Hayden credited local volunteers for their essential work in conservation, noting that the award application was submitted by three watershed groups independently.

The WCLV, established in the late 1990s, supports around 15 regional watershed organizations by providing resources, financial management, and networking opportunities. Highlighted at the award event will be a bog trail project in the Tobyhanna/Tunkhannock Watershed, funded through various grants.

The awards also recognize other groups and individuals, reinforcing the collaborative efforts needed for effective environmental stewardship. The event will take place on October 23 at the Woodlands Inn & Resort.
