West Virginia officials have distributed over $2.8 million in grants for water quality improvements in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, positioning the state as one of two jurisdictions meeting its 2025 pollution reduction goals. The funding will support various projects, including habitat restoration, agricultural conservation, and stormwater management. Key recipients include the West Virginia Conservation Agency and Trout Unlimited, focusing on enhancing water quality and reducing nutrient pollution. The efforts result from collaboration among local governments, agencies, and nonprofits.
