A new campaign by the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), titled “Wildfire Strong No Fuel – No Fire,” emphasizes the importance of clearing brush and debris to mitigate wildfire risks before summer. The initiative responds to forecasts of increasing wildfire activity, particularly in the South Central and Southern U.S.

February saw below-normal precipitation, contributing to dryer conditions that elevate wildfire risks. The campaign suggests that homeowners can control wildfire hazards by removing dead vegetation and debris, creating a five-foot ember-resistant zone, and disposing of yard waste. Leslie Chapman-Henderson, CEO of FLASH, stresses that spring is the ideal time for these actions. The campaign, sponsored by State Farm, warns of wind-driven embers as a significant threat to homes.
