The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced over $44 million in grants for Chesapeake Bay watershed restoration. Funded through the Chesapeake Bay Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reduction Grants and Small Watershed Grants programs, the money will support projects that restore 75 miles of riparian buffers, 290 acres of wetlands, and implement effective agricultural practices across 120,000 acres to enhance water quality. Additionally, the funding will address stormwater runoff from over 350 acres, create over 700 conservation jobs, and engage more than 3,300 volunteers. The Elizabeth River Project will receive $744,675 for stormwater solutions and habitat restoration. These grants aim to improve ecological health and community involvement in conservation efforts.
