The Deschutes National Forest is initiating the Two Rivers Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project near the Two Rivers North community, about two miles west of State Highway 58. Set to begin on July 13, the project aims to lower wildfire risks by creating strategic firebreaks and ensuring safe access routes during wildfires. It involves establishing shaded fuel breaks along specific Forest Service Roads and the national forest boundary by reducing hazardous fuels within 100-250 feet on either side. The approach includes thinning, pruning, and controlled burning over approximately 212 acres, with ongoing maintenance planned. For more information, contact the Crescent Ranger District or visit their website.
