Betty Wold Johnson, who passed away in May 2020 at 99, left a $10 million gift to the Watershed Institute, the largest in its 72-year history, to establish an endowment fund for long-term financial support. Jim Waltman, the institute’s executive director, stated the fund will enhance land conservation, environmental education, and facility maintenance. Johnson was an avid supporter for over 20 years and previously contributed significantly to building the Watershed Center for Environmental Advocacy, Science and Education. The Watershed Institute, founded in 1949, focuses on addressing environmental issues in the Millstone and Delaware River watersheds.
