Conservation Halton held its annual Watershed Stewardship Awards at Area 8 Conservation Area in Burlington, honoring local landowners for their contributions to environmental protection. The event, co-hosted with the Hamilton Conservation Authority, recognized nine individuals and organizations, including 407 ETR, awarded for Corporate Environmental Leadership, and Karen Brock, noted for her community advocacy with Oakville Green. Ashley Elliott was recognized for transforming her property into a biodiversity-supporting area, and Andrews Scenic Acres received the Agricultural Stewardship award for sustainable farming practices.

Chandra Sharma, CEO of Conservation Halton, emphasized the importance of local stewards in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Since 1994, the awards have acknowledged over 300 landowners protecting more than 13,400 acres. Conservation Halton also provides financial assistance for land restoration projects, managing over 1,000 square kilometers of land and serving over a million visitors annually.
