The Grand River Revitalization project in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has received final approval and $11 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). This funding will aid in enhancing the river’s ecosystem, improving waterfront access, and implementing flood prevention measures. The first phase focuses on the Lower Reach of the river, involving dam removals and natural rock installations, set to last two years.

Key supporters, including Rep. Hillary Scholten and Mayor David LaGrand, emphasized the project’s historical significance and long-term benefits for public safety, environmental health, and economic growth. The initiative aims to restore aquatic habitats and enhance recreational opportunities for the community.
