A nearly 4,000-acre wildfire, known as the Salt Fork Fire, is burning near Altus, Oklahoma, and is about 80% contained. As of Wednesday, it has affected 3,656 acres in Jackson County. Other smaller wildfires were reported across the state, including the H&L Fire (174 acres, contained) and the Round Mountain Fire (252 acres, 80% contained). Current dry conditions, marked by “Extreme Drought,” are increasing wildfire risks. The Oklahoma Forestry Service warns of potential fire growth as a cold front approaches, requiring more resources for fire containment due to worsening conditions.
