The Southern Steelhead Coalition aims to enhance watershed restoration efforts to support resilient Southern steelhead populations. Key initiatives include:

  1. Redwood Creek Estuary Restoration: Focuses on restoring ecological functions and recovering salmonid species.
  2. East Fork Scott River Restoration: Aims to reconnect floodplains and improve aquatic habitat.
  3. Alameda Creek Monitoring: Gathers data to support salmonid recovery efforts.
  4. Fish Tracking Projects: Using technology to monitor steelhead and coho salmon during spawning.
  5. I-5 Trabuco Creek Project: Facilitates fish passage to improve access to quality spawning habitats.

Other projects include non-native species removal in San Mateo Creek, forest health initiatives in June Mountain, and dam removal to recover Klamath River populations. The coalition collaborates with partners to secure funding, implement restoration strategies, and advocate for necessary policy reforms, all contributing to the recovery of vital salmonid populations.
