Firefighters are making progress on four wildfires in Nebraska, which have burned over 700,000 acres, the largest in the state’s history. The fires include the Morrill Fire (18% contained), the Cottonwood Fire (40% contained), the Road 203 Fire (36% contained), and the Anderson Bridge Fire (60% contained). Containment improvements occurred thanks to reduced winds, though strong winds later impacted air support. The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning, predicting temperatures in the mid-70s and gusts up to 45 mph, worsening conditions into Wednesday. Gov. Jim Pillen issued an executive order to assist agricultural recovery, easing restrictions for commercial vehicles. Authorities warned that returning home in the Jeffrey Lake area remains unsafe, contrary to social media claims.
