The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is investing $2.4 million in 63 projects for the Utah Watershed Restoration Initiative (WRI) in fiscal year 2027. Managed by the Utah Department of Natural Resources, WRI focuses on habitat improvement through collaboration with various agencies and landowners. MDF’s commitment represents over one-third of the $6 million pledged by Utah’s conservation groups. Key projects include habitat restoration over 3,100 acres in the Twelve Mile Canyon Watershed and a study on reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions. MDF President Greg Sheehan emphasized the alignment of these projects with their mission to benefit mule deer and other wildlife. Over 20 years, MDF has contributed over $20 million to WRI, aiding the improvement of millions of acres and supporting multiple wildlife species.
