Members of the Cloquallum Work Group recently assessed potential sites for stream restoration within the Cloquallum Management Unit in Grays Harbor and Mason counties. This area includes Cloquallum Creek and its tributaries, benefiting from local knowledge and two years of restoration planning. The group, part of the Chehalis Basin Collaborative, aims to identify effective salmon recovery projects.

During the visit, they evaluated three sites: one with excessive gravel and ongoing knotweed management, another featuring active restoration with erosion mitigation measures, and a third site with a fish barrier that could enhance habitat if removed. The assessments help prioritize projects based on ecological impact and feasibility, considering limited funding. The next steps involve scoring the sites and further discussions to secure funding for implementation.
