The Doan Brook Watershed Partnership has appointed Emily Kao as its new executive director, succeeding Mo Drinkard, who resigned after relocating to South Carolina. Kao, previously the partnership’s program manager, was chosen from over 90 applicants and aims to enhance collaborations for watershed restoration. She emphasized the importance of Doan Brook to the region’s ecosystem. The partnership, which focuses on managing restoration projects like tree planting and creating rain gardens, does not set policy but works with local governments. Recent discussions have involved the fate of local lakes, including Horseshoe Lake, and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District’s recommendations regarding dam removal.
